The first generation Kia Rio was really a basic, but genuinely affordable, compact car. The next generation improved considerably, it had additional features and was a better, more comfortable drive. The Rio is available in both sedan and hatchback, although both variants use the same mechanical and interior components, as expected, the hatchback offers additional utility.

There are three trim levels for both the hatchback and four door sedan, all of which use the same engine; a peppy little 1.6 L with 138 HP. The base trim, LX, uses a six speed manual transmission, while the EX and SX come standard with a six speed automatic.
Kia have always been known to give buyers a great deal for the money, this holds true with the new Rio. As standard, the Kia Rio in NJ comes with air conditioning, tilt wheel, satellite radio and jacks for audio and iPod. By stepping up a notch to the EX you can expect as standard full power accessories, Bluetooth, cruise control and a tilt/telescoping wheel. The top of the range SX gets alloy wheels, a tuned suspension, rearview camera and a very cool voice activated interface to control the electronics.
On the inside there is a lot more room than you would think, there is absolutely no complaint about leg room even in the back seat. The quality of the interior is superior to other cars in the class, this is particularly true when you move up to the higher trim levels.
The Kia Rio is very attractively priced and no manufacturer even comes close to beating the ten year limited warranty on the power train. When you buy a Kia you get peace of mind for free.
